Casa Tres is an urban architecture project that achieves sustainability through design and simplicity of construction. Located next to a river, it makes the most of the natural slope of the land and achieves an efficient distribution of space.

The common areas are located on the first level, while a central staircase leads to the bedrooms, which have balconies facing the river canyon, reinforcing the connection with the natural environment.

The lightweight structure combines steel and wood on two levels, with fiber cement walls and a roof protected by recycled plastic tiles. Bright colors were incorporated into doors and walls to energize everyday living and highlight the tropical character of the project.

The design of this architectural work in Tres Ríos is distinguished by its reduced environmental footprint, light foundation, and passive comfort strategies. It is a cool home that takes advantage of the wind and orientation to remain ventilated and isolated from urban noise.

Simple but strategic, the house plays with unevenness to create a rich and dynamic spatiality. Its strength lies in the articulation between local materials and precise construction details, which give unity to the whole.

We consider Casa Tres to be an expression of accessible, contemporary, and tropical urban architecture, designed to be built with local labor and Costa Rican materials. Every proportion and detail has been carefully designed to offer a comfortable, attractive home that is coherent with its surroundings.
