This sustainable corporate architecture project in Escazú was developed in collaboration with Stagno Studio. The intervention consisted of expanding an existing bank branch, incorporating an executive building, a drive-through bank, and gardens that reinforce the institution’s green concept.
BAC Bank maintains an institutional image committed to sustainability and the environment. Under this premise, the concept for the new executive building was clear: a glass cube enveloped in vegetation, a direct and symbolic way of expressing a sustainable corporate architectural design that communicates transparency, modernity, and respect for the environment.
The land where the expansion took place had a previous dwelling, whose materials were recovered and reused, thus reducing the project’s ecological footprint.
The new building, which functions as a VIP lounge for clients and an event space, incorporates interiors designed with special attention to energy efficiency and comfort: glass partition walls, interior planters, natural wood walls, and low-energy lighting and air conditioning systems. High-end furniture, carpets made from recycled materials, and textures that evoke the shade of the leaves on the green walls were selected for the VIP lounge.
A steel walkway connects the existing branch with the new volume, using screens that provide privacy and visual continuity. The regenerative landscaping was integrated into both the auto bank gardens and the internal areas, providing shade, soil permeability, and biological corridors that promote biodiversity.
Thanks to these strategies, the building obtained RESET (Requirements for Sustainable Buildings in the Tropics) certification, recognizing its energy efficiency, responsible water management, use of sustainable materials, and its tropical identity reflected in passive comfort solutions and bioclimatic design.
